Where to Look to Find Real Estate Online

Trying to find a new place to live is a challenging task, especially if you don’t know where to look. You could drive around town going to the offices of various realtors and picking up their catalogs, but those booklets usually only have pricey homes and apartments in them. If you’re trying to get a sense for what the housing prices in your area are, these aren’t really a great option for that, either. However, the best tool you can use to house hunt with is something easily available: the Internet. There are a number of websites out there that will allow you to browse listings of what is for sale and for rent. If you don’t know where to start, or you just want to know what your best options are for browsing real estate online, try one of the following three websites that might just lead you to your dream home!

1. Trulia

Trulia is a great, full-featured real estate website featuring a number of things that can make it attractive to the potential home buyer. There is a search engine that allows you to look for homes in an area that are for sale or even have been recently sold. You can also look for homes to rent. On the results page for each home, you will find a huge wealth of information to help you make a decision about whether or not you’re interested in a property. This includes everything from the crime statistics in the area to what amenities are available nearby. If you have a family, you might find that Trulia is the site for you because it also displays information about nearby schools in an easily accessible format. On top of all that, Trulia gives you a measure of the affordability of the home you’re looking at, so you can figure out whether or not it’s actually in your budget.

2. Zillow

Contact Realtors Directly Through Zillow

Like Trulia, Zillow is a big site very full of features. However, instead of simply providing a list of results as Trulia does, you’ll find that Zillow displays all the properties that meet your criteria both in a list and on a map, so you can quickly see where the property you’re interested in is located geographically. Not only that, but you can refine your search parameters to a very precise degree, including your budget range, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms you desire, and a whole host of other options. Additionally, you can actually contact realtors directly through Zillow, so if you have any questions or want to schedule a viewing, it’s only a few simple clicks away. Zillow does also display some information about the area, but not quite as much as Trulia.

3. Craigslist

Seach Local Real Estate On Craigslist
Search Local Real Estate On Craigslist
While it might not be your first choice, Craigslist is actually a fine place to investigate local real estate options. Since listings are usually made individually by agents, you’ll get a good sense of what’s available in your area by simply perusing Craigslist. It’s not as easy to contact agents through and you won’t get information about the surrounding area, but you’ll also encounter listings from agents who can’t afford to list on Trulia or Zillow. This means you’ll get a chance to see houses and apartments you might not otherwise notice. It’s a great site to keep in your house hunting arsenal.
